Visual Lint is an interactive code analysis environment which provides an easy to use way to use industry standard open source and commercial code analysis tools such as PC-lint (C/C++), CppCheck (C++) and
FxCop (C#) to locate defects and improve the quality of your code.
Visual Lint offers a number of features to help make using code analysis tools easier and more productive. These include:
Close integratiion of analysis tools within the environment to make analysis results easily available to the developer.
Files within a codebase are automatically analysed in the background to build up an "Analysis Profile" of the current solution while the system is idle. Multiple files can be analysed simultaneously, with user preferences determining the maximum number of analysis threads.
When a file is opened for editing within the IDE, the corresponding analysis results are automatically presented in a dedicated Analysis Results and (optionally) in a dedicated pane within the Output Window. Double clicking on an issue in either display will open the corresponding source file at the offending line, and display information on what the warning actually means.
When a file is saved, it is automatically queued for re-analysis.
HTML and XML reports can be produced in a similar format as Riverblade's LintProject command line tool.
Allows easy access to the manual for the active analysis tool within the development environment.
Allows editing of the global analysis configuration within the development environment.
Compatible with a wide variety of development environments and project types, including all common versions of Microsoft Visual Studio (VS2002/2003/2005/2008/2010/2012/2013, VC6 and eVC4) and Eclipse (v3.4 onwards).
Windows Server 2003, Windows XP x32, Windows server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows 8, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 7, Windows Vista x64, Windows Vista x32, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows XP x64, Windows Server 2003 x64
Visual Lint Standard Edition is recommended for individual developers with relatively small codebases. In addition to the manual analysis conventionally offered by PC-lint integration solutions, Visual Lint Standard Edition also offers the capability for automated background code analysis of entire Visual Studio solutions and workspaces.
Each licence permits a nominated number of developers at a specific location within a given organisation to concurrently run instances of Visual Lint Standard Edition throughout the lifetime of the subscription. Note that this product is available for a minimum of 10 concurrent users.
